Standard Input Script - behavior_oyster.in

The behavior_oyster.in file provides the initial locations of the float trajectories to compute. The name of this file is set by the FBIONAM keyword in the floats.in file. This standard input ASCII file is organized in several sections as shown below, with links to more detailed explanation where required.

Introduction

Biological floats behavior parameters based on the oyster model of Dekshenieks et al. (1993, 1996):

turbef = m * trub + c for turbidity < 0.1 g/l

SR = 2.665 * EXP(0.0058*(Lsize-220))


Lsize: larval size in terms of length (um)
TS: fraction of active larvae: fractional swimming time
SW: larval swimming rate (mm/s)
SR: larval sinking rate (mm/s)
DS: salinity change rate (1/s)
w_bio: larval vertica migration

  • Initial planktonic larvae size in terms of length (um).

Turbidity Effect Parameters on Planktonic Larvae Growth

Following the Dekshenieks et al. (1997) definition for the turbidity effect (linear or exponential) as described above.

Planktonic Larvae Vertical Migration (Swimming) Parameters

It is assumed larvae swimming speeds are much smaller than horizontal currents, so only vertical migration is considered since vertical currents are relatively small in comparison. Following the Dekshenieks et al. (1997) definition for vertical migration and behavior as described above.
