I’m pleased to share that North Carolina State University’s Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS) is now accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Physical Oceanography, focused on large-scale ocean circulation and global processes.

Here’s what the role involves:
- Pursuing an externally funded research program in areas like ocean circulation, boundary currents, thermohaline processes, and ocean-climate interactions;
- Teaching and mentoring undergraduates and graduate students, including courses such as General Marine Physics and Physical Oceanography ;
- Collaborating across disciplines at NC State (e.g. geospatial analytics, data science) and contributing to service and outreach;
Qualifications & preferences include:
- Ph.D. in physical oceanography or related field
- Strong potential in research, teaching, and mentorship
- Experience in theory, observations, modeling, data assimilation, or AI/ML in marine science
- Evidence or strong potential for external funding
