Job Summary:
The Center for Ocean-Atmospheric and Prediction Studies (COAPS, https://www.coaps.fsu.edu/) and the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (EOAS, https://www.eoas.fsu.edu/) at Florida State University (FSU) invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in biophysical interaction, with a focus on hypoxia and phytoplankton dynamics in the Gulf of Mexico under current and future climate scenarios using coupled-hydrodynamic-biogeochemical (CROCO/ROMS) models. The successful candidate will be funded by NOAA and NASA PACE research grants. They will be advised by Dr. JunHong Liang (https://sites.google.com/view/fsuoceanliang), Associate Professor at EOAS and COAPS, and will also collaborate with other project PIs at FSU, Princeton University, and Louisiana State University. They will join the vibrant, interdisciplinary research community at COAPS and EOAS at FSU and will be exposed to research and career opportunities.

Qualifications:
The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in oceanography, marine science, or a closely related field, or have submitted their doctoral thesis by the start date. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience with ocean models and strong oral and written communication skills. The applicant must be motivated, able to work independently, and willing to cooperate with other project participants.

Appointment Terms:
This is a full-time position. It is immediately available and will be open until it is filled. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possible extension based on satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, funding availability, and visa status. Salaries will be commensurate with the candidates’ experience. The appointees are eligible for health insurance and benefits through Florida State University.
