Assistant Research Scientist Position in Interdisciplinary Coastal Research

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is seeking a post-doctoral Assistant Research Scientist to develop and apply numerical models to investigate the impacts of climate change on estuarine and coastal waters, including inundation, salt intrusion and water quality. He/she will have an opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists. A Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or a related field is required. The applicants are expected to have demonstrated skills in numerical ocean modeling and data analysis. Previous experience with interdisciplinary research such as coupled hydrodynamic-biogeochemical models is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and stakeholders. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The appointee is eligible to receive the full university benefits, including the medical, prescription and dental plans as well as the state retirement and pension plan. Position begins in early 2024.
