Estuarine and Coastal Numerical Modelling: Associate/Full Professor

#1 Unread post by ckharris »

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS)/William & Mary’s School of Marine Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible Associate/Full Professor. The position will begin in Summer 2022.

Qualifications: The successful candidate holds an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) or an equivalent degree in a field applicable to marine science. The candidate should demonstrate an established funding record, have a strong scholarship record commensurate with experience, a demonstrated ability to sustain an active research program, potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring students, and strong communication skills. We are seeking candidates who share VIMS’ commitment to the principle that diversity and inclusion are critical to maintaining excellence. The candidate should demonstrate excellence in the development of numerical modelling capabilities for coastal and estuarine environments, and ideally the application of coupled bio-physical models at multiple scales to inform coastal issues, important to the Commonwealth of Virgina and Chesapeake Bay. The successful candidate will be poised to take advantage of opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations that abound at VIMS, such as investigating hydrodynamic effects on biological, chemical, and geological processes. Additionally, the appointment will afford the successful candidate with access to VIMS and William & Mary’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) capabilities.
