2004 ROMS/TOMS Workshop, Venice (Italy) - First Notice

#1 Unread post by arango »

The first ROMS/TOMS European Workshop will be held at the Institute of Marine Sciences of the Italian Research Council (CNR/ISMAR), Palazzo Papadopoli, Venice (Italy), October 18-20, 2004.

We are still discussing the workshop format. We would like to have a combination of lectures, scientific presentations, and tutorials. It is likely that most of the scientific contributions will be presented as posters so we can focus our time on tutorial sessions and discussions.

One of the goals of the workshop is to introduce ROMS/TOMS new algorithms and tools for realistic applications including grid generation and conditioning, data preparation, configuration options, open boundary conditions strategies, nesting, vertical mixing parameterizations, atmospheric and interdisciplinary coupling, parallelism, and other scientific and technical issues. In addition, we will like to introduce ROMS/TOMS tangent linear and adjoint algorithms for variational data assimilation (strong and weak constraint 4DVAR), ensemble forecasting, and stability analysis.

Due to the limited space available at CNR/ISDGM auditorium, priority will be given to those who register by April 30, 2004 and provide an abstract by May 31, 2004. Please send your intention to attend and abstract to arango@imcs.rutgers.edu.

We welcome any suggestions about the workshop format. We will provide further information as it becomes available. For more details, please visit:
