Post-doctoral Fellowship
Marine Ecosystem Modeling
IPRC, University of Hawai`i at Mānoa

The International Pacific Research Center (IPRC) of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) of the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in marine ecosystem modeling. We are seeking candidates with experience in modeling the physical and/or the biological marine system to work on the impact of physical processes on the marine ecosystem. The research will involve collaboration with colleagues in JAMSTEC (Japanese Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). As such the area of research is relatively broad, but preference will be given to someone interested in exploring the impact of submesoscale processes using observations, process models, and results from high resolution models run on the Japanese Earth Simulator. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in oceanography, or a related field by the starting date. Application deadline: April 1, 2009, or until the position is filled. The appointment is for one year and is renewable for a second year, depending on performance and availability of funds. To apply, send a statement of research interests, a curriculum vitae, and names and addresses (including telephone, fax, and e-mail address) of three persons willing to write a letter of reference to: IPRC-HR@hawaii.edu or by mail to Aimee Nakajima, IPRC/SOEST, University of Hawaii, 2525 Correa Road, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. For questions concerning this ad, contact Dr. Kelvin Richards, telephone: (808) 956-5399, email: rkelvin@hawaii.edu. For more information about the IPRC, see our web site at: http://iprc.soest.hawaii.edu.
