For anyone's interest, I have posted on Matlab Central a "Skill Metrics Toolbox" that contains plotting functions to produce both target and Taylor diagrams. This Matlab toolbox includes a series of simple examples for generating the diagrams that serve as a tutorial. The toolbox can be found at
