question about detiding

#1 Unread post by colberg »

Hi all,

I have been running a ROMS simulation including tides utilizing the ROMS detiding algorithm

When I run the simulation over 1.5 month the detided fields display an offset that depends on the
averaging period (see attached images). This is mostly visible for temperature.

For example when I run the model with hourly averaged output the surface temp_detided field is about 1.5DegC cooler than the surface temp field. This offset is apparent for all grid points and seems pretty stable over the time period. For daily averaged output the difference becomes smaller.

Is this simply a matter of running the detiding algorithm over a longer time period ? Or could there be another explanation?

I am using ROMS Rev: 783

Cheers
Frank
