rst problems

#1 Unread post by babsona »

Hi, When I do a restart run, all of the salinities of the new output file are zero, right from the first step and stay that way. Anyone else run into this problem and figured out what the solution is? I was able to successfully restart runs when using version 2.1, but I consistently have the same problem if I try since I switched to 2.2.

details: all I'm changing is ININAME= ocean_rst.nc and NRREC=-1
if I look at the restart file itself, the salinity values are reasonable

thanks, Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Yes, I found the same problem when I first tried restarting with v2.2. There seems to have been a slight change in the logic compared to v2.1.

Before restarting with v2.2, you need to undefine any CPP variables which set the initial values analytically (eg. ANA_INITIAL ) and recompile. Otherwise the values in analytical.F will get used rather than those in the restart file.

regards,
Deborah
