velocity outputs rotated to true East, ture North ?

#1 Unread post by longmtm »

Hi all,

People in our group are in the processes of building a server for viewing ROMS outputs online. Yet for velocity fields, rotation and scaling are needed in order to obtain the results into true (East, North) directions on collocated grid points instead of being in the curvilinear and staggered coorindinates.

Since doing this kind of rotation in the post-processing is tedious and can consume a large amount computer time for webserver applications. Is there an option for doing all these within ROM fortran codes? Or is it already done? I'd love to see true East/North verlocities in the history and average output files on lat_rho, lon_rho points in addition to the exisiting ones. Same to the stresses etc vectors/tensors.

Thanks and warmly welcome your inputs,

Wen Long
