low velocity in deep water

#1 Unread post by ykang »

Hello, everyone. I use ROMS to simulate the deep circulation.
To make the deep water steady state, I have spin up for 50 years.
but the model velocity of deep water is lower than observation.
The observation speed of deep water is over 2.5cm/s, but model speed is almost 1cm/s.

How can i increase the speed of deep water?
I've tried changing AKK_BAK, viscosity, bottom viscosity but nothing have worked :(
Thank you for you patience and looking forward to your replay!

We need a good deal more information about what you are doing! By the way, you should be looking at the T and S water mass properties as well. There's a known problem on the basin scale with at least most advection schemes being too dissipative, especially over multi-decadal timescales.
