nodal correction for long simulation

#1 Unread post by seashellingolds »

Hi All,

I am currently trying to learn how to run a model with tide. On the tidal forcing wiki page, I read this:
"Because we run multi-decadal simulations, we have chosen not to include the "nodal corrections" in the external forcing file but to modify ROMS to compute them for the time at hand. The alternative would be to swap out the tidal forcing file every few years."

But I have seen many scripts that make tidal forcing files including the nodal correction. I assume they are for short run or prediction (?)
If I want to do a long simulation, say 20 years or more with climatological or realistic forcing, what should I do to deal with this problem? modify ROMS to compute them? swap out the tidal forcing file at what frequency?

Thanks a lot!
