Question about roms_tool?

#1 Unread post by safoora.seddigh »

Hi Dear Fdaryabor,
Thanks for your helping.
The website that you introduce me is fine and useful.
I use it for Benguela Test and it works, and now I am going to change scripts for my region.
Would you tell me about these changes that I should do that?
Should I do some changes as mentioned in Roms-tools documentation ?
Are files which for data such as etopo2 ,WOA2005 and COADS05 fine for my region or I have to make the data for my region again?
Thanks a lot.
Best,
Safoora

Dear Safoora,
About what you ask me, is depend. Currently use the data what you have now. Then verify your results with observation/SODA.

Safoora,
etopo2 is a 2min Global bathymetry by ngdc, WOAXXXX and COADS are the World Global Atlas and the Comprehensive Ocean Atmospheric Data Set, both global. These two are good for basin scale resolution or lower. If you are working with regional models closer to shore with resolutions higher than 2min (1/30 deg) I would suggest you download files better suited for your area of interest. Also depending on the application you are working with (Bio-chemical models for example) you would need additional data sets.

good luck!
