why cold SSTs in summer months ?

#1 Unread post by mashinde »

Hi,

I am forcing the model with era40 data. I am also saving net swrad and lwrad to his file. But it swrad gives zero values. here I am attaching ncdump of swrad from his file and cppdefs.h used. The lward is givng values in the his file. I checked input file of swrad and it is not with zero values.

any idea/hint/comment ?

thanking you

A better view might be had from an averages file than from the history file. With the DIURNAL_SRFLUX, you are asking ROMS to impose a day-night cycle onto the shortwave radiation. If you catch your history snapshots all at night, you will get zero values. You might also set up the STATIONS output and watch it go through a day-night cycle at a station.

Hi Kate,

Thanks for the comment. I am also getting cold SSTs throughput the year. No change in temperature. Do you think, it is not maintaining the relation between short wave radiation and ocean temperature. I did not have such problems in case of climatological runs.
