Changes in the Vertical Mixing Schemes

#1 Unread post by rroberts »

I ran a sensitivity study on the vertical mixing schemes in ROMS a while back (Robertson, 2006). At the time, there were high diffusivities in the mid-water column.

I have repeated the vertical mixing scheme study on the new version of ROMS (well new a year ago). Now the high diffusivites are all confined to a benthic boundary layer. I don't know that this is a bad thing. MY and LMD were designed for boundary layers. The high mid-water column diffusivities I had ealier could be an incorrect response and the lack there-of now, could very well be the correct response.

I was just wondering if any one knew what has happened with the vertical mixing paramertizations in the last few years and if they know whether there is a bug(s) now or there were bug(s) that have been corrected. I expect the latter. But I would like to understand this a bit more. :?:
