quick question on model time

#1 Unread post by seashellingolds »

Hi everyone

I am new with ROMS and I am trying to make a run with daily wind forcing. I made my climtology file and boundry file with the cycle length 365. But in the wind forcing file, the leap year has 366 days. So how do they match with each other? I mean probably there is a flag variable which we can set to indicate leap year.

The other question I want to ask is how I choose time_ref. It is -1 that means 360 days per year. Should I make it -2 ? I still feel confused with model time clock (I am just not sure if what I understand is right but I am trying to read the source code). Is there any good instruction I can find for this? I d really appreciate it

This has been an endless source of discussion, believe me! We are getting winds from a place where they throw away all information that ever falls on February 29. Your tides don't skip leap days if you want things to line up with calendar days. Craziness! I think the best thing to do overall is to ask for years of 365.25 days.
