#1 Unread post by yinglong »

Research Assistant position at Center for Coastal Margin Observation & Prediction (CMOP; www.stccmop.org), OGI School of Science & Engineering, OHSU, near Portland, OR.

As coastal communities are increasingly vulnerable to natural disasters like tsunamis, it's urgent to advance our knowledge in this area and use it to help prepare mitigation plans.

The main research focus for this full-time position, funded by Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industry (DOGAMI), is to understand the inundation process in a tsunami through computer simulation and modeling. Qualifications should include computational maths/physics or related field, and candidates with good knowledge on scientific computing languages like FORTRAN, C, matlab and web tools (e.g., ArcGIS) are preferred. Qualifications should include B.Sc.

The position will be initially for one year with likely extension, depending on performance and continued funding. Compension package depends on experiences, and includes full benefits.

CMOP is committed to improving the diversity of the U.S. workforce in science and engineering. Women and persons from underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
