One Master/PhD student position in Computational Oceanography is available at the University of Delaware, College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE). The position will focus on the coupling of hydrodynamic and ecosystem models, with a goal of addressing the dynamics of changing seasonality in marine environment and primary production. The student will be advised by Dr. Yun Li. See https://sites.udel.edu/yunli/ for more information.
In addition to the topics described above, Dr. Li is involved in a variety of activities including moving forward the individual-based model to understand the transport pathways of coastal harmful algal bloom and oil dispersion, as well as the coupling of carbon flux models with the state-of-the-art ocean state estimate to understand the changes in upper ocean pCO2. Numerous opportunities exist to gain field and modeling experiences, and the particular project undertaken will be largely dictated by your interests and skills. Moreover, collaborations with scientists from other renowned institutions (e.g., WHOI and UT Austin) are expected.
The successful candidate will receive tuition, stipend and health benefits and will be supported by a combination of college funds, research assistantship and/or teaching assistantship funds.
