We are looking for a bright, motivated new hire to map and classify change in coastal landscapes with the US Geological Survey, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Sciences Center,located on the campus of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution on Cape Cod. Several similar positions have been posted recently...this is a new announcement for an additional position.

The term position is offered at the GS-9 level, requiring a Bachelors in an appropriate earth science major and some experience, or a Masters. The initial appointment will be for 13 months, but may be extended for up to 4 years.

Duties will include
  • Processing of remote-sensing imagery, especially aerial imagery
  • Analysis of coastal change using structure-from-motion, GIS, and machine learning algorithms
  • Developing landscape classifications and building/maintaining GIS databases
  • Preparing scientific reports and data releases
