Postdoctoral Associate in Physical Oceanography

#1 Unread post by Yunli »

The College of Marine Science, University of South Florida, seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Associate in Physical Oceanography, starting in January 2018. The initial appointment is for 12 months, with an additional funding of at least two years available upon satisfactory performance.

This project is to analyze, understand and quantify the roles of mesoscale eddies in the three-dimensional dispersal of subsurface materials in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) using observations and existing GoM ocean circulation and Lagrangian trajectory models. The successful candidate is expected to work together with a group of PIs (Drs. Xinfeng Liang, Robert H. Weisberg, Yun Li, and Yonggang Liu) on these topics but is welcomed to pursue his/her own scientific goals within the framework of the project.

Review of the applications will begin immediately and proceed until the position is filled. Please include a statement of research interests, cover letter, CV, and names of three references as an attachment to your application. University of South Florida is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applicants from under-represented and minority groups.

Candidates must have a PhD in a field related to Physical Oceanography and are expected to have a solid background in ocean dynamics and data analysis. Experience in working with numerical ocean models is preferred. Individuals should be motivated, have excellent communication skills, and able to work well as part of a group.
