Job Description
Fugro is the world’s leading supplier of meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) services for offshore and coastal engineering applications. Operating on a global basis with over 30 years' experience, we offer metocean solutions through cost-effective, high quality and technically advanced measurement, consultancy, information systems, forecasting services and specialized structural monitoring. We are now looking for a suitable candidate to join our metocean team in Houston, Texas.

The successful candidate will assist with the analysis and interpretation of metocean data, both measured and modelled. Direct experience of hydrodynamic numerical modelling would be beneficial but not essential.

Roles And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Deriving metocean criteria.
• Carrying out numerical modelling (both forecast and hindcast).
• Validating models against appropriate measured data sources.
• Project management.
• Liaising with clients to establish their requirements and to present analysis results.
• Helping to develop new markets for our services.


Requirements
Qualifications required:
• A degree in Oceanography or related discipline is essential. A PhD is desirable.
Experience required:
• Use of metocean data to derive criteria for engineering design.
• Detailed knowledge of one or more modelling software products such as ROMS, MITgcm, HYCOM, Delft3D or Telemac is preferred.
• Validation of numerical model data against measured data.
• Running software on a Linux platform.
• Writing technical MATLAB and Python scripts.
• Knowledge of data assimilation techniques would be an advantage.
