Wave Modeller (ref 2006/1462)

CSIRO, Marine and Atmospheric Research, Perth, Western Australia

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons with expertise in the numerical simulation of surface waves and nearshore wave driven currents. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to developing a short term forecasting capability of nearshore hydrodynamics, and assessing the impact of climate change on wave climate and setup on coastal sea level extremes. The appointee will work with a team of researchers at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research in Perth, Hobart and Melbourne with expertise in deep-ocean and coastal oceanography, nearshore hydrodynamics, atmospheric science, and software development. The successful applicant will have a background in oceanography, coastal engineering or a related field that complements the existing research skills at CMAR.

CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) aims to advance Australian climate, marine, and earth systems science. Our research focuses on issues affecting Australia and the world, and we provide a range of scientific and consulting services that are underpinned by this research. CMAR has more than 500 staff, plus more than 100 students and long-term visitors. Staff are located at sites in five states: Aspendale, Victoria; Canberra, ACT; Cleveland, Queensland; Floreat, Western Australia; and Hobart, Tasmania, where the Headquarters are located. CMAR also manages the National Facility – Ocean Research Vessel Southern Surveyor.
