Coastal Modeling Postdoc at University of Washington

#1 Unread post by pmaccc »

A Post-doctoral research position in ocean modeling is available in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington. The successful candidate will join the UW Coastal Modeling Group to work on development and testing of a daily forecast model of coastal-estuarine circulation and biogeochemistry in the NE Pacific and Salish Sea. The project goal is to model ocean carbon chemistry related to ocean acidification affecting shellfish growers (faculty.washington.edu/pmacc/LO/LiveOcean.html).

We seek a scientist skilled in coastal and estuarine physics and/or biogeochemistry. Experience with modeling (especially ROMS), Linux, python, and MATLAB are helpful. The position is full time Research Associate (postdoctoral) with duration of at least one year and a possibility of extending longer. Candidates should have a PhD in oceanography or related fields. More information about the School of Oceanography can be found at ocean.washington.edu.

Applicants should submit a CV and a cover letter describing their interest in the position and list three references with contact information. Please contact Dr. Parker MacCready (pmacc@uw.edu) for more information and to submit application materials. Review of applications will begin on September 15, 2015 and continue until a successful applicant is found.
