Position Description
Will set up, run, and evaluate hydrodynamic models that predict coastal inundation. This includes numerical model coding, shell scripting, numerical model postprocessing (graphics, statistical evaluation of output), parallel computation, and network applications for the development of hydrodynamic model-based systems. Will be working in a team environment. Will report on work progress through written documentation and may give oral presentations to the scientific community.

Required Skills
2 + years of experience with oceanographic modeling. Expertise in numerical model coding, shell scripting, numerical model postprocessing (graphics, statistical evaluation of output), parallel computation, and network applications on model-based systems. Experience with oceanography, running coastal ocean models, working on Linux/Unix systems, programming, and parallel computing. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Must work well in a team environment. Experience managing projects, including adhering to project schedules and budgets, is desired. Expertise in shell script, FORTRAN, C, IDL, MATLAB, and HTML, desired.

Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.

Education
MS in ocean sciences, atmospheric sciences, mathematics, related discipline or equivalent. PhD preferred

Hi, I was wondering if the Ocean Modeler position is still open? I didn't find any NOAA/ERT related jobs through the provided linkage. Has that already been filled?
