Hydrodynamic Modeller, CSIRO, Australia

#1 Unread post by sym057 »

CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) is offering an opportunity for a suitable qualified individual to fill the role of Hydrodynamic Modeller. The successful candidate will join the team based at the Centre for Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) in Floreat, Western Australia.

You will have a background in physical oceanography with skills in the implementation and interpretation of numerical models of coastal and continental shelf circulation, including biogeochemical and sediment transport processes. You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team of scientists working on projects for the Western Australian Marine Science Institute (WAMSI) and other Western Australia based research projects, observing, identifying and describing the important elements and processes which structure the marine environment.

The appointee will be expected to participate in multi-disciplinary studies, providing a physical perspective in articulating problems and formulating solutions. You will use hydrodynamic models to describe the physical system, and as direct input to other disciplinary models such as biogeochemical and sediment transport models. The appointment will provide an opportunity to develop research proposals and to participate in field work. The research aims to deliver high impact journal publications and provide Western Australia agencies with a scientific basis for managing coastal marine systems.
