The Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University is seeking a scientific computing specialist to provide programming and user support services to an Ocean and Earth System Modeling group. The position entails configuring and conducting computer simulations using numerical models such as the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) and the NCAR Community Earth System Model (CESM). The successful applicant is expected to assist in coupling diverse components of an earth system (physics, biology and social science models), manage observational and simulated datasets, including their transfer, storage and manipulation; develop and apply pre- and post-processing software; design and maintains project web pages; and provide compute cluster support.

The positions has a minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in a related field (oceanography, computer science, engineering, physical sciences), good
quantitative / computational skills, and a working knowledge of FORTRAN,
python and the Unix environment. Background in numerical methods in Earth Science and experience with climate models is strongly preferred.
