PhD position in coastal ocean modeling at NUS (Singapore)

#1 Unread post by vivien »

A fully-funded PhD position in coastal ocean modeling will be available starting in January/August 2013 within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The student will be involved in the application of the SUNTANS model to coastal and estuarine environments, particularly in the Straits of Singapore and the Johor River estuary. The model will be employed to study the effects of forcing (tides, freshwater, winds) on the estuarine circulation and the transport of pollutants, salt, larvae, nutrients and sediments within the estuarine environment.

Applicants must have a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in oceanography, engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics or a closely related field. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. To apply, please send a cover letter and CV to Dr. Vivien Chua via email ceecpwv@nus.edu.sg.

NUS is a leading global university centered in Asia. In the 2011/2012 QS World University Rankings, NUS is ranked 5th in Civil Engineering and 28th in the overall ranking.
