Postdoctoral Researcher/Physical-Biological Ocean Modeling

The School of Marine Sciences, University of Maine, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on coupled physical and biological ocean models. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting coupled physical and biological model integration, analyzing model results, preparing graphical presentations, and contributing to scientific manuscripts and reports. The individual will join the Ocean Modeling Group under the direction of Profs. Huijie Xue and Fei Chai and collaborate with scientists at several other institutions.

Required qualifications include Ph.D. in oceanography with demonstrated scientific programming experience and working knowledge of different types of ocean models; ability to communicate effectively using oral, written and electronic methods; ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and to manage multiple projects and deadlines; and ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.

The position is available immediately, but the selected candidate must start no later than October 1, 2012. This is a full time position with initial appointment for one year, renewable contingent upon funding and performance.
