Post-doctoral Research Associate in Oceanography. Full-time position: to participate in National Science Foundation-funded projects focused on understanding physical-biological interactions of Antarctic continental shelf systems, with particular emphasis on the Ross Sea. This position will involve analysis of data sets acquired from a range of sampling platforms that include tagged marine mammals and autonomous gliders. The position will also involve development of methods for using these data with a numerical circulation model implemented for the Ross Sea. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in marine science or equivalent; must have experience with computer systems, FORTRAN90/95, numerical circulation modeling (ROMS experience especially desirable), quantitative data analysis methods, knowledge of physical oceanography of high latitude systems, and scientific writing. The applicant is expected to prepare research results for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, make presentations at national and international scientific meetings, and attend project-related workshops. The initial appointment is for one year with a possible renewal for a second year, pending satisfactory review of each year's results. Consideration of applicants will begin on 25 January 2012 and will continue until the position is filled. Send resume, a summary of Ph.D. dissertation research, a statement of research goals, and the names and contact information for three references to the Old Dominion University Research Foundation, P.O.
