Assistant Research Scientist Positions in Coast Oceanography

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is seeking two post-doctoral Assistant Research Scientists to work on NSF-funded projects in the area of coastal/estuarine oceanography. The positions will involve the development and applications of numerical ocean models, and the analysis of observational data. Research topics include the role of winds in estuarine dynamics, and the impacts of climate variability and change on Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. A Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or a related field is required. Experience in numerical modeling is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The appointees are eligible to receive the full university benefits, including the medical, prescription and dental plans as well as the state retirement and pension plan. Positions begin in September, 2011. The initial appointment is for 1-year, with re-appointments of up to 2 subsequent years possible, contingent on satisfactory performance.
