Ocean Modeller - Scientific & Technical Officer
Brief description of the position
The Ocean Modeller will work as part of the Oceanographic Services Team and will liaise closely with staff from a range of service areas across the Marine Institute. The principal tasks of the STO Ocean Modeller relates mainly (though not exclusively) to oceanographic modeling and associated inputs to the ARCOPOL and EASYCO projects. The following principal tasks will apply to this post:
Prepare and run the above mentioned models on a pre-operational basis.
Develop robust validation routines for these models.
Assist in the development of specific modeling products and services for Marine Institute service groups and external collaborators, including European projects
Contribute to improvements to the suite of Marine Institute pre-operational models as required.
Participation in oceanographic cruises and inshore coastal fieldwork programmes as required.
