Ocean/Sea Ice Scientists. Los Alamos National Laboratory is a premier national security research institution delivering innovative science and engineering solutions for the nation’s most crucial and complex problems. Currently, our Climate, Ocean and Sea Ice Modeling (COSIM) project has excellent opportunities for: Ocean/Sea Ice Scientists. As a key member of our team you will assist in the development of ocean and ice models for climate research. Your focus will be on analysis of coupled model simulation results, configuration of ocean and/or sea ice models and evaluation of model results against observational data sets. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary scientific team to run and analyze high-resolution coupled climate models and help improve the physical performance of our community models.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in computational science, atmospheric, ocean or geophysical science or equivalent combination of experience and education; a strong background in running climate, ocean or ice models and analyzing model results; and the ability to work well in a team environment. Fluency in programming languages, graphics or analysis packages and familiarity with observational data sets are also essential. Experience evaluating high resolution (eddy-resolving) ocean or sea ice simulations would be an asset. For additional information about the position, contact Phil Jones (pwjones@lanl.gov, 505-667-6387). To apply, visit www.lanl.gov and reference job number 218878. EOE.
