I would like to call your attention to a contract position currently available at NOAA's National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/). Interviews are commencing for a scientist/programmer familiar with geophysical modeling that can learn the operational infrastructure within NHC's storm surge unit and help lead new developments in modeling and applications. Please forward this announcement to anyone who may be interested.

The candidate will work with Hurricane Specialists within NHC's operational infrastructure to communicate storm surge threat during tropical cyclone events. The candidate will also serve as a liaison with other NOAA agencies and to the university community on storm surge related research and technique development activities and implementation; make recommendations to the NHC Storm Surge Team Lead on planning, developing, testing and implementation of new storm surge products, procedures, tools, and methodologies; and provide technical support to the NHC Storm Surge Team including programming, development, data management, and GIS.
