Ocean Data Assimilation

Preliminary applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position in the Department of Ocean Sciences, at UC Santa Cruz in support of a new project to work on weak constraint 4-dimensional variational ocean data assimilation in the California Current system. The position will be available in the first instance for 2 years with the possibility of an extension for a further 1-2 year period. Previous experience in ocean modeling and 4D-Var data assimilation is desirable. We expect to receive funding for the position within the next month or so, at which time the position will be formally advertised and the salary range announced.
