Location: IMCS, Rutgers University
2016 ROMS/TOMS Asia-Pacific Workshop
Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies
Hobart Waterfront, Tasmania, Australia
October 17 - 20, 2016

:!: NOTE: :!: Due to scheduling conflicts with other meetings the workshop has been compressed into 4 days. We apologize for the late notice on this.

Please read through the  workshop agenda.

Notice that each day has specific theme and includes oral talks and poster sessions with lectures mixed in Tuesday - Thursday. The oral presentations are 30 minutes including time for questions and answers. The lectures are 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

Posters will be displayed throughout the workshop and poster sessions will be during the extended lunch breaks. Poster size limits will be communicated to all poster presenters soon.

There is no registration fee to this year’s workshop. We greatly appreciate our sponsors for making this possible. However, there will be a small fee for the optional  Peppermint Bay cruise and dinner reception on Tuesday but we sincerely hope you will join us for this unique opportunity. We expect this fee to be ~40 Australian dollars (~31 U.S. dollars) for attendees and ~80 Australian dollars (~62 U.S. dollars) for additional guests. Details and RSVP info about the cruise will be emailed to workshop attendees soon; so stay tuned.

Each attendee will receive a workshop packet including the program and additional information and  this year's t-shirt. An electronic version (PDF) of the program will be available online soon.

Lunch will be provided for all four days of the workshop. Lunch breaks on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be 2 hours. However, Tuesday's lunch will be 1.5 hours to facilitate a timely departure for the reception cruise and dinner. Again, the extended lunches allow time for poster sessions.

:!: NOTICE: :!: We need a final head count for the catering service (breaks and lunch) and seating so please let us know if you are registered but will be unable to attend by emailing robertson@marine.rutgers.edu.

Although not obligatory, we encourage you to use PowerPoint or similar electronic presentation media. Please bring your presentation on a memory stick or CD. Each presentation will be loaded into a single Mac and Windows based laptop. We ask you to provide your talks during registration or during the breaks before your session. Please bring an electronic copy of your poster to the workshop so it can be included in our CD archive. We also plan to load these presentations and posters on the ROMS/TOMS website for future reference.

There is a lot of information on the main workshop page:

Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a visa to enter Australia. There are several types of visa's available depending on your country of origin. We suggest using the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection  Visa Finder tool to determine what type of visa is best for you. When you enter Australia you must give the immigration agent the same visa condition you selected when obtaining your visa. For example, if you obtained a conference-type visa, then tell the immigration agent that you are visiting on holiday, you will be denied entry.

Looking forward to seeing you in Hobart,
