ROMS on NICS Kraken Cray system

Hi,

Has anyone compiled ROMS on the NICS Kraken system ? Its a Cray system, part of XSEDE supercomputer clusters.
https://www.xsede.org/nics-kraken
If so, would like to get the compiler options and netcdf options that were optimal on this machine.

Thanks.

Offline Heat Budget calculations from ROMS model output

Hi, Has anyone computed the individual terms in the heat budget equation (as shown below) using the ROMS model output, computing the advection, temperature tendency term and the remaining terms? If so, is it possible to completely close this budget to good accuracy or what is the order of magnitude ...

Re: Backwards trajectory

There is also one more option, which is to use adjoint passive tracers such as done in Song, H., A. J. Miller, B. D. Cornuelle and E. Di Lorenzo, 2010: Changes in upwelling and its water sources in the California Current System driven by different wind forcing. Journal of Physical Oceanography, acce...

Hi Prasad, Sorry for the late reply..I just saw your post. If the ROMS OA package also needs HDAT format, then I think, the ROMS OA package is better. From what I remember ( I had used it 4 years back) you do get matlab and other fortran codes which read netCDF data and convert them to HDAT format. ...

Objective Analysis

Hi Prasad, I have once used the Objective Analysis packaged developed at Harvard which was one of the suggested tools for ROMS OA. I'm not sure the ROMS Matlab toolbox OA code will objectively Map scattered data onto the model grid. The Harvard code was a fortran code which needed the input data to ...

Dear All, I have been trying to generate an OA NetCDF file of Topex/Poseidon SSH data using the oa package given on the ROMS site. But I haven't figured out how to go about it. I have prepared the Topex data in hdat format to feed as input into the oa executable. The oa executable runs reading the i...
