If you want LMD_MIXING, you should include LMD_SKPP and LMD_NONLOCAL and you will have to provide incoming shortwave. To get the closest to HYCOM, you should use the same surface forcing they use. This would include heat and salt fluxes. Find out if they use a bulk flux formulation internally and do what they do. ROMS is quite picky about the format of the file. Do you have tabs in the ocean.in? I suggest getting rid of the comment on the line of your first forcing file too. ROMS will ignore comments where the "!" is at the start of the line. Thanks for your help,there are no tabs or any comments ...
