Assimilate avg values
It would be nice to be able to assimilate also temporal averaged values (e.g. SSH) based on NAVG.

ROMS for the Baltic Sea?
Hello,
Does someone use ROMS for the Baltic Sea? We are looking for a suitable model for our next project...
Cheers, Jan

PhD position at GFZ Potsdam
Section 1.3 “Earth System-Modelling” at GFZ searches for a PhD candidate to work in the project “Detectability of non-tidal ocean signals in Earth's magnetic field (OceanMag)”. The project is part of the DFG priority programme “Study of Earth system dynamics with a constellation of potential field m...

Re: CG_DELTA not positive
AWESOME, this did the trick!
Thank you, wangzc - it would have taken me quite a while before I would have thought of NRREC! (If at all!)
So thanks gain!

CG_DELTA not positive
I use IS4DVAR with the following configuration: ADJOINT Adjoint Model. ANA_BSFLUX Analytical kinematic bottom salinity flux. ANA_BTFLUX Analytical kinematic bottom temperature flux. ASSUMED_SHAPE Using assumed-shape arrays. AVERAGES Writing out time-averaged nonlinear model fields. BACKGROUND Includ...

Re: netcdf closing error
Just to let you know, I solved the problem. I had to set all the file-name variables like ITLNAME, CLMNAME and so on. The files itself are not needed. Note, the error does not affect the generation of the normalization factors. I just don't like errors and the tendency of ROMS to need input (sometim...

netcdf closing error
While computing the normalization factors I get the following error (see below). The normalization factors are normally generated and written to netcdf files (as far as I can see). But there seems to be a problem with the adjoint netcdf file? Why does ROMS want to write this anyway in case of the no...

Observations for normalization?
Hello, I'm setting up an assimilation system with ROMS. Now I want to compute the normalization factors and the system is asking for an observation file. In "s4dvar.in" this file (OBSname) is marked as input/output. I do not have such a file and are not willing to create one (jet). Did I s...
