Re: it was: "Time for another European ROMS workshop?"

Julian, that's exactly the spirit I had in mind! No need for tutorials, a couple of days, a sort of meeting close to those that are typically organized during EU funded project. The local host provides as much support as possible. With my group we have been organizing a couple of these events every ...

...time for another ROMS European Workshop?

Dear all, After several years from the last one, I feel the need to set up another "European" ROMS workshops. I think times are ripe for another meeting, and I wish to share with all of you the idea to think about its organization, if possible and not conflicting with other initiatives, of course. I...

Re: Which GLS scheme is the best to model wind on surface wa

Dear all,

the "correct" modeling of the upper surface layers is a delicate issues, involving many aspects (including the choice of the TCM).
Some (hopefully) useful hints in this direction may be gained from the paper in attachment.

Cheers

ROMS-MPICH-NFS

I wish to know what is the configuration of ROMS when it runs with MPICH and NFS: a) the master node sends jobs to the slave nodes, the nodes reply the results to the master node, and the master writes down the output files b) the master node sends jobs to the slave nodes, and each nodes write its o...

Problems with Sediment Applications

Dear all, I think there is a bit of confusion under the Wiki page for Sediment Applications. https://www.myroms.org/wiki/index.php/Test_Cases This is probably due to some not correct synchronization beten the WIKI pages and the ROMS release. However, since it is all "out there", I think we should ha...

BUSTRW value when using ANA_WWAVE (e.g. LAKE_SIGNELL )

When running ROMS not coupled to SWAN, using ANA_WWAVE though for sediment purposed, we can prescribe a wave field in the ana_wwave.h fucntional. Take, LAKE_SIGNELL case. Though, when looking at the output fields bustrc bustrw bustrcwmax the field "bustrw" (bottom stress due to pure waves) is always...

values of "bustrcwmax"

I am using the latest release to model the circulation induced by the coupled SWAN+ROMS in a nearshore region, where the circulation is indiced by the pure wave-current interaction. These are the specifics: The beach is 5000 m x 1000 m grid, grid size 20x 20 m; ROMS DT=10 s; SWAN DT=60s; Coupling Ti...

Seriously, I and many others have been using Seagrid for years, and although the installation and quirks can be annoying, once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to modify the grid until you get something that has the grid resolution where you want it, and has small orthogonality errors on we...
