Dear Saeed,
I got a working/operational ESMF-SWAN-ROMS code some time ago, and had sent it to "ROMS headquarters", but the official version is yet to be updated.

Re: Compiling ROMS with ESMF

Dear turuncu , Please, note that the ESMF-ROMS is still work-in-progress, to my understanding, in the sense that ESMF is still applied in the current SVN/trunk version as a wrapper for ROMS, and not yet coupled to other models like WRF or SWAN ) - thus #ifdef MODEL_COUPLING does not apply. I've been...

SmartSVN - try it!

In the recent heat wave of SVN questions I think it maybe helpful to remind another alternative to subversion, a SmartSVN with GUI , which has been mentioned by rsignell in an earlier post (see https://www.myroms.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=529 ) SmartSVN could be obtained at http://www.syntevo.com/sm...

PGI Fortran compilers difference

Hi Zhang, I could not answer definitely about your particular problem and BC formulation, but one thing I know about PGI compilers that there had been a bug in PGI 6.x version (I had v.6.0) that was fixed in PGI 7.0. This bug was related to array boundaries (upper and lower indices), in assumed shap...

bug report in lmd_bkpp scheme

When activating the LMD_KPP option for internal mixing, there is an option to use both surface and bottom kpp scheme, LMD_SKPP and LMD_BKPP. The bottom boundary layer scheme, lmd_bkpp.F, mimics the surface BL, and likewise allows for input of the heat, salt, and shortwave radiation fluxes. The appar...

Surface heat flux STFLX includes solar radiation SRFLX!

Hi praveen and others, I need to modify some of my earlier assupmptions (above), following multiple attempts to figure out the right way to account for surface heat flux in ROMS. The shorwave radiation had to be included in BOTH the net heat flux FORCES(ng)%stflx , and to be given as input in a sepa...

Hi praveen, Otherwise we should use a heat flux without shortwave radiation which passes to the variable FORCES(ng)%stflx(:,:,itemp) and shortwave radition separately to FORCES(ng)%srflx as penetrating, as you mentioned above yes, this is my understanding how surface heat forcing works in ROMS. I us...

Hi, I'm using ROMS for the coupled ocean-atmosphere simulations (COAMPS model for the atmosphere, and ROMS - for the ocean). The way I handle heat fluxes that are being computed by the atmospheric model and passed to ROMS every ocean model time step, is the following. As a heat forcing at the surfac...

pgf90 and Netcdf ?

As I undestand, one of the important things is compiling the Netcdf with the same compiler as the model. Here we got some troubles with pgf90 version 5.1-3, it fails passing the Netcdf test during the installation: there are some differences between example_goo.cdl and example.cdl . The guy from sup...

ROMS2.0 + Linux + MPI (multi-node) = ???

Is there anybody working with such a combination of using the recent version of ROMS2.0 running under Linux and MPI? We make an attempt to run the model on a PC cluster, and use RedHat Linux with MPICH, where mpif90 is configured to utilize the pgf90 compiler; Netcd also has been compiled using Port...
