Postdoctoral Fellowship in numerical modeling in HABs at NOAA NCCOS through ORISE postdoctoral fellowship
Hi, We (NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science) are hiring a postdoc in numerical modeling focusing on HABs. The postdoc will be through ORISE postdoctoral fellowship program with generous stipend and health insurance subsidy. https://www.zintellect.com/Opportunity/Details/NOAA-NCCOS-2022-0...

Re: Question about particle tracking
liyizhen: LTRANS v1 It speeds it up a LOT though the testing was not thorough. A normal run formerly took around 30 hours. With mpich it took an hour and a half or so. John, that sounds a great speeudup! Please let me know when your friend is willing to share the code. We've been using LTRANS for o...

Re: Question about particle tracking
John, can you tell me your colleague parallel ltransv2 or v1. It would be interesting to see how fast it can speed up the computation!

Re: Problems reading climatological files
Thanks Kate.kate wrote:In the C language, strings are always terminated with a null character. The problem is that Fortran doesn't know that and thinks that null is a meaningful part of the string. Where did it come from? ncatted was written in C.

I encountered the same problem when using ncatted. Where is the null value from Kate?

Re: What does CPP flag # SPHERICAL do?
The way to know for sure is to search for that string in the source files and see what's there. Thanks Kate. It appears in ana_grid only, and it's only used in analytical grid applications. Functionals/ana_grid.h:#ifdef SPHERICAL Therefore in WC13 4DVAR experiment, SPHERICAL option was not really t...

What does CPP flag # SPHERICAL do?
Hi, I just saw that in the data assimilation flag WC13, there is a cpp definition #SPHERICAL turned on. In cppdefs it mentions "use if analytical spherical grid". Obviously it's nothing associated with the flag spherical in the grid file, which is a flag for if it's in realistic lon,lat co...

roms psi==2?
Hi, I'm running a climatological simulation using ROMS version: September 24, 2010 The simulation is smooth, and I didn't see any problem in the grid mask file (mask value==0 or ==1). However, in the output avg files, the mask_psi is ==2 for some locations. I am supposing this is just an output erro...
