In this paper we present an analysis of the benefits of running the ROMS model in a multiprocessor platform using the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard. In order to analyze the behaviour of the program, it is run on two different processor clusters with different properties with respect to communication costs and computation capabilities.

Additionally, the Intel Cluster Toolkit is applied to ROMS, in order to acquire more specific knowledge about the behaviour of the program. The information obtained allows us to draw some interesting conclusions.
