Getting to Hobart
Flight Info:
You will want to fly into Hobart International Airport (HBA). Even though it's designated an international airport, all flights to Hobart will arrive via the Australian mainland (e.g. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane). Taxis, rental cars, and busses are all available from the terminal. We recommend the Redline Airporter bus because of its price and convenience.
Note: Some of the cheaper flights from the Australian mainland to Hobart may not be found by some travel sites so you might want to search for flights to Sydney or Melbourne separately from the final leg to Hobart.
The map below shows the airport (A) and workshop (W) locations. As noted below, it takes about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city of Hobart.

Rental ('Hire') Car Info:
Parking near the workshop is slightly difficult and relatively expensive. Hobart is definitely small enough that walking to the workshop is a good option. This, of course, depends on how close your hotel is to the city centre, but generally any hotel that is advertised as being in Hobart city will be close enough to walk.
If you're interested in doing some sightseeing before/after the workshop, renting a car is possibly a good idea, but there are still many options that won't require a car and there are rental car outlets in the city, so there's no need to get it from the airport.
A dual-lane highway takes you from Hobart Airport to the city of Hobart. In australia you drive on the left-hand side of the road. Hobart is a relatively straightforward city to navigate, with good signage and well-maintained roads. You can arrange to pick up your rental car from Hobart Airport. Information desks for the car rental companies are located outside, in front of the Hobart Airport terminal. For more information click here.
Getting to the Workshop:
The ROMS Workshop will be held at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies Building from Monday, October 17, to Friday, October 21, 2016.

The nearest all-day parking structures require a 10-15 minute walk to the workshop location. All parking closer to the workshop is hourly parking with a maximum of 3 hours. There is un-metered parking further from the city center but involes an ~30 minute walk to IMAS. Infomation about city operated parking in Hobart an be found here and a private carpark option here.
Walking From Hobart City Hotels or Car Parks:
The map above has the IMAS building is marked with a W, four full-day parking structures marked with a P, and the numbered hotels from the list above. The main entrance is on the west end of the building and signs will be posted to guide you to the meeting room.

To reach the workshop via bus we suggest using the Metro Tasmania Trip Planner using "IMAS, Hobart, TAS" for the "To" field. The planner will even give you suggested walking routes from your bus stop to the IMAS building. The main entrance to IMAS is on the west end of the building and signs will be posted to guide you to the meeting room.
Taxi:
There are several Taxi companies operating in Hobart and we have listed seven with phone numbers below. Taxi's with larger capacity, or with wheelchair carrying ability are generally available on request. Give the driver the address 20 Castray Esplanade and/or tell them it's the IMAS waterfront building and they'll have no trouble getting you to the workshop. The main entrance to IMAS is on the west end of the building and signs will be posted to guide you to the meeting room.
