Transfer Service:

There are transfer services available from both Venice and Triesta airports. Transfer services pick you up at the airport and drive you to Rovinj. The price is on a per vehicle basis so it can be a cost effective alternative if you arrange to share the cost with other attendees. For example, a vehicle to transport up to 8 people is approximately 540-750 Euros round trip from the Venice airport. The same size vehicle from Triesta airport is approximately 300-400 Euros. http://transfers2airports.com/ and http://www.jamtransfer.com/ offer transfer services and it is likely other companies offer this service as well.

Ferry (Venice):

There is a high speed ferry from Venice to Rovinj on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The cost is 121 EUR round trip but one way fares are also available. The trip is aproximately 3 hours and 45 minutes each way. Booking, schedules and more detailed information can be found here.

Bus:

From Zagreb:

There is an Official Airport Bus to Zagreb's main bus terminal (30 min ride, 35 kn) just outside the airport. You can also take a taxi to the main bus terminal for aproximately 150-200 kn. Once at the main bus terminal, there are many buses from Zagreb to Rovinj and the price will vary from 150 kn to 200kn depending on which bus you take and takes approximately 4.5 hours. More information about this option can be found here.

From Trieste:

The airport is integrated into the public transport network of the APT Gorizia coach operator. You can get to the main Trieste bus terminal via the E 51 line (4 EUR oneway). From the Trieste bus terminal there are at least two companies that service Rovinj (Brioni Pula and FILS) but there may be others.

The Trieste terminal to Croatia (various destinations) time table can be found here. Only two of the routes listed go to Rovinj without having to change buses

Rovinj bus terminal to Delfin pier:

The map above shows the easiest route to walk from the Rovinj bus station to Delfin pier to catch the boat to the Island Hotel Istra (workshop location).

Car:

If you rent a car from outside Croatia be sure to advise the car rental company that you will be leaving the country. Your route will depend on which airport you arrive at but approximate drive times are listed in the table above. Remember to check entry and exit requirements for your home country if you will be driving from outside Croatia. In particular, if you are coming from one of the Italian airports you will be passing through Slovenia on your way to Croatia so check exit and entry requirements for all three countries.

If you are staying at the Island Hotel Istra there is parking available near Delfin pier where the boat to the island departs. You can receive all necessary information about parking, transfer and transport by boat at the information booth. The information booth of the hotel is located at Delfin pier, right next to the roundabout, where you will see "Hotel Istra" written in blue. Boat Schedule and other information can be found here. If the parking lot at the pier is full you will be directed to a near by lot and a shuttle can be provided if necessary.

Getting to the Workshop:

For those not staying at the Island Hotel Istra, you will need to ride the hotel's boat that leaves from Delfin Pier. On the first day of the workshop tell the boat staff that you are attending the ROMS workshop to avoid paying the 40 kn fare. On the first day of the workshop you will revceive a name tag, which will allow you to ride the boat for free for the remainder of the workshop.
